Thriving in a recession...

It’s official. Today The Guardian announced we’ve: “officially entered recession for the first time since 1991.”

But it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom. We know that investing in the right kind of marketing can help your business grow, even in the difficult months ahead.

We know this because during the last recession many great brands were created by forward thinking companies who got their marketing right and overtook their competitors. While others stepped back, they stood out – grabbing a greater share of the market.

So, what’s the first step on your road to success?

Step 1: check out your website

In an economic downturn the only thing worse than not having a website is having a bad one.  So, building your first site or revamping an old one should be your first step in your marketing masterplan.

But how do you work out what makes good web design? 

• Make sure your web designer understands your business inside-out so your site design is appropriate and helps strengthen your brand
• Identify and clearly describe your unique selling points and talk about benefits as well as features – good web designers can help you send the right messages
• Make sure your site is easy to navigate –  the tiniest difficulty will see your prospects clicking back to google

And finally, make sure your web copy is not only attracting a lot of the right attention but also converting all those visits into new business for you.
